ELEPHANT TOOTHPASTE

PASSION PROJECT
ELEPHANT TOOTHPASTE
22/11/18
Me and one of my group members experimented on Elephant Toothpaste, First we were on the internet finding ways and what was the best ways to erupt the explosion just in case it did not work as planned, in the past week we planned out how we were going to make this and how to get the ingredients, from our homes, market, Teachers but we managed to get everything from 1 to 2 weeks because none of us had Potassium Iodide but it worked out.

My Projects "Big Picture"
My Project is SMART because
S - Specific
Checking the height of the explosion from the foam
M - Measurable
We’ll have a ruler and to record it i'll have my phone
A - Achievable
this is achievable because I know that all I need to do is
R - Realistic
This is realistic because all the equipment is easy to get
T - Time based
I can complete my practical in 2 days and then spend 1 day making a presentation

Area of discovery you are looking at: Chemistry

Our goal for this Experiment
was check how tall was the reaction and how it reacted, was it Time-based?
We started the project on 8/11 and finished on 22/11 completing just little late for school brake, and for reactions cause I wore a lab coat, gloves, glasses.

How Reactions React?
When liquids hot and mixed into a chemical, the chemical molecule's jump around when much hotter rather then cold water just like we flinch our hands cuz the taps to hot its just like that.

My Log Book
8/11 Find the prices for the materials and the chemicals.
19/11 Starting to make the base and get ready for Thursday.
22/11 Hopefully we get past all ingredients and make it explode then i'll start on the presentation.

STEPS AND METHOD
steps and ingredients (Intermediate level)
  • A plastic soda bottle
  • 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide liquid Tablespoon
  • HOT Potassium Iodide
  • Liquid dish-washing soap
  1. Add about 5 tablespoon of liquid dish soap into the bottle and HOT Potassium Iodide also food coloring for color
  2. Now the adventure starts
pour the hydrogen peroxide into the bottle
(a funnel helps here) and watch the foaminess begin but before wear your safety gear( Dont Touch it its Dangerous use water to clean it)

FOOD

GI
one it can be a graph to understand what foods energy last longer and which one lasts shorter but have a higher energy level.
its for understanding to know  energy levels in a amount of time same with the carbs
the picture here is a GI graph to understand it, imagine that red part is energy from the ice cream and the green is from bread.

CELIACS DISEASE
We have to show you 3 facts about Celiacs Disease
1. What is it - A reaction to a protein in wheat
2. How does it affect people? - it can give weight loss, vomiting and other symptoms.
3. The lining of the small intestines are flattened
food labels help people that suffer from celiacs disease, helps them to tell what ingredients are in the product. one of the text or images are in the food label is the ingredients list and the directions help them to not suffer from it
